#4 The Right Stuff

I really liked this movie. It was a total "guy" flick though that's for sure. However, it had cute guys in it so I think the ladies will enjoy it as well. :) Thomas and I both got caught up in the story and the drama of the crazy pilots- both in airplanes and in space. It's amazing any of them made it with such little training. I believe this was based on the true story. Great acting, loved the script. It was a little long for me- I thought it would end a few times before it did and that is a personal pet peeve of mine, but other than that I loved this movie and would probably watch it again.

  1. I agree on all points ... I am in love with Sam Shepard, who played Chuck Yeager. (He was nominated for an Oscar, but lost to Jack Nicholson in "Terms of Endearment".) However, this movie came out in 1983, and the R-rated movie you replaced it for, "Raging Bull", came out in 1980. Anyway, this movie won the award for best original music score, but lost out to "Terms of Endearment" in nearly every other category.

"Raging Bull" is another one of those movies most appreciated by movie buffs -- beautifully filmed by Martin Scorsese, but it is VERY hard to watch ... way too much foul language and violence, both in and out of the boxing ring. It is basically a character study of a real boxer, Jake LaMotta, who was not a very nice person; I can't imagine why he would be worthy of having his story told in film. To each his own, I suppose.

  2. I just took the information from the website. I guess I should have double checked it, but the time period is similar so I guess I'll keep it the same! :) If you catch any more errors let me know!

  3. Or maybe, if you come across an R-rated movie from 1983, you could replace it with a movie that came out in 1980!
