Thanks!

Thanks for all of your comments! I love that a few friends are following my adventure with the big or rather "small" screen. I didn't get to watch Gone with the Wind yesterday as planned because a Sunday nap got in the way, but I am excited to watch (maybe in parts) this week.

  1. Oh, please don't watch this movie in parts! It's bad enough that you won't be seeing it on the big screen, which is breathtaking. It's 238 minutes, which is just under four hours and includes an overture and intermission. You should find the time to watch the whole thing. I'd be happy to bring Evan and Zoe over and watch it with you, if you have time during the day! I might be biased because my ancestors fought for the Confederacy, but this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

  2. I appreciate that I am going to offend people with my having to break up the longer movies, but I just don't have 4 hours in a row that I can commit to a movie. I sat down to watch it today and fold laundry at the same time and Tyler needed me almost constantly so I put in something that I'd seen a million times so I wouldn't be constantly shushing him. We'll have to get together to watch a shorter one though with the kids if you want.

  3. Well, I'm not offended. I just long for people who have never seen a movie before to be able to watch it uninterrupted. Yes, it's quite frustrating when the movie is so long. It often seems I never have the time to watch "GWTW" without interruption, so I end up not watching at all. I could benefit from breaking it up! You're so practical, Dereth!

Having looked down the list, I suggest you watch "Schindler's List". I feel the R rating is due to the subject matter. Steven Spielberg is Jewish and really wanted to tell a no-holds-barred story that showed how horrible the holocaust was, and it's very effective.
